Finally. Comic. Yay!
So yeah, Steven’s never been shown smoking in the comic because there hasn’t really been a place for it yet. And in Michigan, like a growing number of states, you can no longer smoke inside most businesses, so he’d have to be standing outside and in Michigan that can be stupid cold in Winter. Luckily, he’s not a heavy smoker.
I do like how Steven doesn’t mind speaking up and won’t take bullshit. He’s shown he doesn’t mind being party to it, but he won’t just take it. More on that another time though.
Ginger and Heather have a mildly weird relationship. Trying to see who can mess with the other more. Explains some of Ginger’s weird behavior with her friends. She has an odd way of showing her love.
A note about this update bullshit – A lot of the update issues have been from exhausting myself with job hunt stuff so I can have a job before my unemployment runs out. The fun part is that job hunting is more exhausting than hiking around the mountains for ten hours a day, probably because its more boring. What I’m thinking about doing is weathering through to the end of this arc, trying to get more than a comic a week but updating no less than that, then depending on how things are, officially taking a couple weeks or so of hiatus of just focusing on the comic to get it back on track – maybe run guest strips or something if I have any – then coming back with at least a small buffer so I can more easily do the job hunting and comic side by side. I’d do it sooner but I’d prefer not to be in the middle of an arc when I take a break from updating. I dunno though, I need to think about it still.
So how is everyone doing?

I wonder what ‘Blue’s’ facial expression is in that last panel…..Hrmmmm….
One of annoyance, I’d imagine.
Ohgod i laughed really hard at the last parts.
and beware. people know you smoke by looking at you O.o
Some people can! And some people show it more than others. I think for Heather, it was half a guess.
Steven is a very responsible cancer addict.
If you’re gonna do self harm, it’s a good idea to be responsible about it, I say.
Is it evil of Ginger to get her mom back like that?
Probably not. Something tells me they’ve been keeping score somewhere…
Lol! I love Ginger’s dad. And Blue. And Ginger’s mom. THEY ARE ALL MADE OF AMAZING.
Thank you! They are very fun to write.
At least Steven doesn’t smoke at work. Wish the same could be said for the people at my college. Any spot that’s outside seems to have been marked as a smoking area. Still a shame that both of those charaters smoke though.
I was debating the idea of characters smoking but I realized I already have characters drinking (quite a bit at times) and smoking is just another thing that people do sometimes. Steven demonstrates he’s at least a conscientious smoker, and given he can go for long periods without, he’s not a chain smoker. It’s a casual thing for him. Might also help release some stress after some days with Ginger.
Ginger’s mom, we don’t have much on her smoking habits, but I think it’s fair to assume that she wasn’t so much in need of a cigarette here as much as she wanted to talk to one of Ginger’s employees in private and this was a good excuse. Steven also had the bonus of being male so she could try to meddle in Ginger’s love life. Whoops on that front!
Well, seems that plot was foiled rather handily, huh? And good for Steven making sure to keep the smoke outta the store.
Well, aside from very specific businesses, it’s illegal to smoke in a public building in Michigan, so there’s that too. But yeah, the smell of a bread shop is important, he doesn’t want to interfere with that.
I Wonder if she hired him knowing this exchange would happen (well and the lack any decent other applicants).
Probably not. I’m sure this was just a bonus.
I love the last three panels, especially her dad’s expression in the second to last panel.
Also, if you want my Thundurus, I’d trade it to you if you let me borrow your Tornadus to capture a Landorus. I have various others you could hold as collateral while I captured Landorus. I don’t really need it and I know you want to have a complete Pokedex.
I saw your tweet about that, just forgot to reply at a non-4:30 AM time. Sounds like a plan!
Thats… quite a family there XD
Things must have been really lively back when they lived together :p
At some point there’s going to have to be a flashback. Haha
Dude, you’re in MICHIGAN. Otherwise known as “Where Resumes Go To Die”. If you don’t know someone you’re probably better off just checking Craigslist and such for jobs you can do remotely because the job market here is death unless you know people, and even then, it’s not good.
Yeah, it’s why I’ve been applying all over the place. Although it might be easier to apply for various Federal jobs if I could get the Goddamn paperwork proving I’ve done so in the past! My applications are automatically disqualified if I tell them I have Federal work experience without this one form proving it submitted with the application… which sucks when I can’t seem to get a copy of it. (I’m not just applying to federal jobs nationally, they’re just easier to apply to in a regard because of my past experience. Finding other jobs nationally is also a more difficult venture without knowing people/getting a head’s up.) I do keep feelers out through other Michiganders if there’s anything available in-state, but those are rare, especially ones I qualify for (improving slowly though).
