Per usual, I’m cleaning up the archive for ease of binging and so I’m posting the December Asks comics here! BOOP!
(The commissions aren’t technically open anymore but shoot me an e-mail and MAYBE you’ll get lucky)
Heya! If you’ve seen tweets and mentions here and there about it, I’ve been some car and computer troubles lately and, coupled with the holidays, am in need of some extra money to pay bills. So I’m opening up commissions for December!
Here are the deets!:
600px x 600 px .png – Social Media Avatar – $10 – Pretty straight forward, I draw you or a character you want for use as an online avatar for your Twitters or whatevers.
8″x10″ 350dpi .tiff – B&W Character – $30 – Single character in black and white, suitable for printing, additional characters $5
8″x10″ 350dpi .tiff – Color Character – $40 – Single character in color, suitable for printing, additional characters $10
Some important notes:
– E-mail me first (Carl -at- GingersBread.com) to go over what you want and if it’s doable before paying. Depending on exact requests with character numbers and whatnot, we want to make sure you’re paying the right price.
– Payment (via paypal, same as e-mail above or the button on the site) is needed before I’ll draw it.
– Please be ready with a reference image if needed. Ya know, particularly if I’m drawing a picture of you or a friend or something! I’m willing to a point to draw other characters other than my own, but again, some reference MAY be needed.
– I’m not doing anything NSFW or TOO crazy involved (say, like, really complex backgrounds). We can talk about limits if you’re unsure about your request.
– Generally will be first come first serve, but let me know if it’s a Christmas gift of not as I’ll give the gifts priority. If you want it by Christmas, contact me no later than December 20th!
– I’ll close commissions if there are too many requests.
Alright, I think that’s everything but I’ll add more if I need to. Thanks all!
Wow, seriously. Thank you all for supporting the comic this whole time. It means a lot to me!
I know 500 comics over 7 years doesn’t sound like a lot (it’s about a comic and a third updates each week). Those of you who have been reading a long time though know that I’ve worked hard to manage just that and I really appreciate you sticking around during those periods where life happened. I’ve never given up on the comic and that’s largely because you haven’t given up on me. Life has largely settled down… for the time being, and hopefully that means we can push the comic further ahead and to new levels.
Making the comic, as stressful as it can be at times, is still amazing fun and I’m extremely happy with how much it’s helped me grow as a writer and artist. I’ve gotten to know some amazing people because of and I’m hoping to meet many more. And just knowing there are people out there who enjoy my work, it’s amazing. You’ve all been amazing support over the years and I can’t thank you enough. I’m humbled by it and it’s sometimes hard to wrap my head around.
And I humbly ask you to help the comic into the future as well. Please, tell friends and family about the comic! Go through the archives and share your favorites (making sure, of course to credit and link back)! Link to us on your website/blog! Take part in the comments! I might not reply to every one, but I do try to read all of them and I’m glad you’re around! Send in fan art, I love seeing the characters drawn in different styles! Keep the TVTropes page up to date! Check us out on Comic Chameleon! Click on the Google Ad at the bottom of the page and get me a few extra pennies of ad money! And if you’re financially able, please consider supporting the comic on Patreon. Or buying the shirts that are, at least temporarily, available! (Fox shirt! Cookie shirt!) The more money the comic makes, the easier time I’ll have taking time off work to focus on it.
Thank you all for an amazing seven years, 500 comics, and here’s to many more ahead! And thank you so much for all your support! You folks are amazing!
Huh, I kinda forgot about the blog part of this site! Haven’t made a blog post since… May 2014?! Damn. Alright, let’s change that!
I guess the idea is generally for big news and stuff doesn’t get mentioned in the news posts with the comic updates. Well, the big news tends to get there to. For example, if you read the news posts you’d know that Ginger’s Bread is now on Comic Chameleon! It’s the App the have if you like online comics and with over 130 comics on it, there’s bound to be at least a few you like! (Currently on iPhone only but come October 14th, Android users get it too!)
Another bit of news is that Patreon is still a thing and if you can help support the comic financial, please do! I’m going to try to update more often – twice a week – for all of October and into the start of November. Financial support helps mean I can maybe take a day off work one in a while for more comic focus.
Nothing else really at the moment, so I guess a question I have is what – if anything – would readers be interested in me blogging more generally about? I mean, I may start doing a monthly rambling a la this, but if there is something in particular folks are curious for me to write about, let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading!
Alright, so I’m back in the Mountains and working on Archaeology. There’s a lot of work because of the fire last year, so it’s going to be a busy summer. The move in general was a kick in the groin and this won’t be making updating any easier. Especially since, at the moment anyway, I don’t have a super solid Internet connection (plenty of free wifi to hit up, but that’s not the most convenient thing for more right now). So here’s the main bits of news:
We’re switching to Monday/Friday schedule with the occasional Wednesday if I can get something made or we hit some Patreon goals (more on that below). And just a head’s up – Monday/Friday meaning at some point during those days. I’m on West Coast time now but also a to-bed-early schedule for work and until the comic is earning more than my job, my job gets to dictate my schedule. Sorry, that’s just the way it goes.
Patreon Reward Changes
None really, but unless I can get the Internet at the house working, well, the $10+ reward of Google+ Hangout is up in the air as to how it’s going to work. Current possibilities are a stream just watching me draw with less chat (which kinda defeats the idea of a “hangout”) or me finding someplace and just chatting without drawing as most of my options may be outside of coffee shops or libraries after they close, sitting in my car. There’s a POSSIBILITY of being able to draw outside of one of them, so there would be drawing and chat but also the possibility of… “Surprise guests” walking by. We’ll play this by ear but it’s important everyone in the $10+ pledge levels let’s me know when they’re available for a hangout as soon as possible after the 1st of the month.
**Okay, so because of the Internet thing, the activity stream gets even less attention that it already does, which I’m not to pleased about. I’ll do what I can to rectify that as well. My first focus is getting the comic done, I’ll make a note to screenshot the progress more often (or if people have other things they’d like to see in the Behind The Scenes/Activity Stream, let me know).
Straightforward: I’ve switched out some of the Patreon Goals. Now at the $500, $1000, and $1500 marks, we’re getting, for sure, three updates a week. Hitting those goals means I’m more easily able to pass up overtime, and maybe take some days off here and there, to focus on getting comic work done.
Let me know if there’s any questions, anything I can clarify. Thanks for the patience during all this moving and all the support I’ve gotten. It really means a lot.
