Oh look, plot of some kind. Groovy.
Kelly’s shirt is clearly a reference to my friends, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Their third album is due out this year so expect me to be talking about them a lot in the upcoming months.
Have you hunted for a job recently? Then you know this is true. I’ve seen a couple places with “Now Hiring” or “Accepting Applications” signs up for over a year. The “Now Hiring” sign has been a lie for that entire time.
I’ve been having some trouble drawing comics today so I took some time to draw up a new Facebook picture, which I tend to make as one-panel comics. Just thought I’d share:

So a Christian and a non-believer walk into a coffee shop…
I debated on when and how I wanted to do this strip. On the one hand, I know there are people all kinds of weirdness when religion of any kind is mentioned. On the other, I find the subject of religions fascinating and their believes are part of the characters’ backgrounds. And hey, Ginger and Kelly don’t mind ribbing each other about this stuff.
While the Meowth line is obviously an homage to the Pokémon cartoon, it’s Ginger is really much more a fan of the games and of course would dress appropriately. (Yes, Jesse/James were in Pokémon Yellow, stop yelling at me! We’re sticking with the normal “Team Rocket Grunts”.) I think I should hold off on anymore of these Pokémon referencing comics… at least until HeartGold/SoulSilver in a few months. When that comes out, I may be unavailable for long periods of time.
Then again, Pokémon is so much better than Twilight. “Team Edward”? “Team Jacob”? Yea, I’m going to have to go with Team Rocket. (I’m also signed on with Team Conan.)
Thanks for reading! Team Ginger is blasting off again!
So yea, the site looks a little different… I suspect witches are responsible… What? Oh! No, it’s all thanks to Mr. Frumph and him helping me get set up with ComicPress 2.9 (or at least the latest beta of it)! It works out nicely with the comic being a little larger now as well.
I’m still working on a few more little tweaks here and there, but we’re doing pretty spiffy right now!
Thanks for reading!
You know, I’ve been meaning and meaning to post this, and dammit all, I just keep forgetting.
Until now.
In light of Between Failures popping up in the comic, I finally remembered and am linking to some Ginger guest appearances. I am so angry I forgot to do this sooner that my stomach growls in hunger as I’m not eating until I link them. Them being Femmegasm and The Space Between!
Robbie sneaked Ginger into a comic back in December, back when I wasn’t updating. She had some free time and decided to check out a dog show.
And Shane liked the underwear dancing so much, he used it as a background painti-wait what? Yes, he admits it ends up looking like she’s getting raped.
Alright, I’m unaware of any other appearances, but be sure to let me know if you see them! I’ll try to be quicker on the shout outs!
… Now to get some damn food.
Oh hi, Megatainment. Don’t know who/what Megatainment is? It’s the setting of the wonderful Between Failures.
Ginger, you’ve been unemployed a year, hun. You need to be less picky. (Although the possibility of being trained by Reggie is pretty bad deal…)
Ginger, Ginger, Ginger, you can’t out-crazy Glenn Beck. He’s shown himself to be much too good at being batshit insane.
Here’s a quick update of some more fanart I got a couple days ago! This one comes from John (his DeviantART) and is another picture of Ginger! Man, she gets a lot of love. His picture and all the other fanart can be seen in the Fanart section!
Honestly, Ginger is more embarrassed about getting her secret pantless couch dancing being found out than being caught in her underwear.
That’s right, archaeologists are sexy. Hey, wait a minute, I’M an archaeologist (from time to time)! Lllllllladies….
Panel 1 features a professor of mine who’s been on the History Channel a few times. (Not naming him here though, least he’d prefer otherwise of this unauthorized cameo) Ginger and Kelly’s comments about him do come from every female friend to whom I’ve pointed out my professor being on TV.
And while this strip is some insight into why Ginger was majoring in Anthropology in college, it provides no insight as to why she dropped out.
And here we go! Welcome back to the updates of Ginger’s Bread, the new schedule with the new year being M-W-F. (For those who are readers coming back to the site, there’s a new site look as well!)
I’m real excited for this year! I’ve been working and planning feverishly for the next few months of comics and if I can continue to maintain the buffer, will have the opportunity to work on some of the side things I’d like to. There’s several smaller things, like site tweaks, that I hope to work on as well. For example, I’m trying out alt text on comics now, at least some of them (if I can get that to work…). And again, I’m going to try to update the blog more often, although the Follow Friday posts might not be back for a while. the characters’ Twitters look to make a comeback at some point this year too.
And a bit of a bonus to the excited mood of a new year and new comics… new fanart! The first piece is one of Ginger from JT of Between Failures, who gave us that beauty back in October. Then, this weekend, Shane McCarthy, over at The Space Between, drew up this fiery pic! Thanks guys!
Yea, I’m feeling that this is going to be a good year and a big year. And so I’m ending tonight’s post asking if you’d be willing to help make it that. Please tell others about the comic if you enjoy it! Tweet it, Stumble/Digg/etc your favorites, and anything else and let people know it’s here!
Thanks for reading, and here’s to 2010!
This is exactly how I would use it the amazing power of creating doubles of myself. Several mes is a scarier thought than several Gingers, I think.
I actually came up with the script a couple months before Jackson died. Being in the middle of a story and then hitting a hiatus, it took a while to actually get made. Only difference now was that it was too tempting to modify the comic to make a remark of zombie Jackson.
